My Views on ReligionI am an Atheist. My definition of an Atheist is a person that does not believe in a religion and denies the existence of a supernatural being. I tolerate religion mainly because it has been around longer than I have, and many important people believe in it. I do not condone religion, I believe that only ignorant, NOT stupid, people immerse themselves in faith.
Religion came about because people needed aspects of their lives explained. This was before any real form of science existed. People could not explain why when you jump up, you come right back down. Now, thanks to science we know its because of the gravity that any mass creates; not because a God doesn't want you to fly like the birds (something I made up).
It was also implemented to make people accept what they normally wouldn't accept: mainly peace in the early human history. Religion kept people from committing petty and violent crimes. This restores order and people can live happier. Now that we have Laws and armed forces to enforce the laws, we have no need of religion. It has no more use to us than a petroleum burning vehicle from the 1930s, that only goes up to 5 mph, and can go a distance of 10 miles. It is something in the past and we have no need of it. In the Foundation series, Issac Asimov talks about religion. It was used by a group of people to make other people accept science, which was considered evil by others. Religion made them do what they normally wouldn't have done. By giving Radiation Treatment a special name like "The Healing hand of the Gods" people readily went for it.
I want to say a few things about the religious figures that are around. Religion is localized. It is stories made up by a group of people. Its the same thing as languages. Therefore, all the religious figures are of the ethnicity of the original birth place of the religion (i.e. the Pope is Caucasian, the Dalai Lama is Tibetan, etc.). Now if there was one true religion, why would God chose only Caucasians as leaders of Christianity? Why does the Dalai Lama always reincarnated as a Tibetan? Why not an African, a European? Now, was there a true religion, the superior being would chose a person MOST fit to represent Himself to the humans. He would not care about the ethnic background. Lets say, the next Pope was an Asian. EVERY SINGLE CATHOLIC would probably have a heart attack. Not to mention the racists that would probably herniate their brains down the spine into their rectum and then excrete it.
These are the reasons as to why I am not a Theist. I do have morals, its just that those morals don't come from religion. My morals differ, just like everyone else's does, but I still do have morals. My morals tell me what’s wrong and what’s right, if you don't like them, well, that’s your business.
